Tesla: Cybercab launch night in Austin

Tesla ran its Austin Cybercab launch event on Sept 3. The company primary post for the night is short: "The future has arrived in Austin," with an event video. Follow-up Tesla posts frame the two-seat robotaxi as a lounge-style cabin with a 22-inch screen for theater, music, and gaming, and say Cybercab will soon carry V5 Starlink hardware for connectivity.

That is a day-of product launch package, not another invite graphic. The desk already carried the Aug 22 Sept 3 date lock. What changed is the event itself plus company product claims from the same night.

Local coverage put the invite-only program at ACL Live in downtown Austin with a 4:45 p.m. CDT start. The Austin American-Statesman reported staff saying attendees would get Cybercab rides first, with broader public access described as starting Friday, and noted Cybercab rides limited to a portion of Austin. Tesla had already registered 45 Cybercabs on the Texas robotaxi roster before the event. Independent Texas fleet trackers put Tesla Robotaxi, LLC near 420 authorized vehicles including those Cybercabs and hundreds of Model Y units. Authorization count is not the same as unsupervised cars actively dispatching.

The Robotaxi app store copy, reported the same day, says the lineup now includes Cybercab and asks riders to schedule in the Robotaxi app. That is software/store language for Austin Cybercab booking support. It is not a national open, and it does not by itself prove every Austin rider can hail a wheel-free car on demand.

Elon, same evening, called Cybercab "basically a super comfortable lounge on wheels with a great TV and epic sound," and separately joked that Cybercab is gold because transport is entering a "literal golden era."
